Last updated on Saturday, May 9, 2015

(OSCEOLA) - Osceola police have identified the man killed in a house fire early Friday morning in eastern St. Joseph County.

According to the autopsy, 68-year-old Davis L. Anderson died of smoke inhalation.

Firefighters found Anderson in a burning home just past midnight, but they were unable to revive him. His son, who was already outside when fire crews arrived, suffered no injuries.

Currently, officers with the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit were still working at the scene late Friday afternoon with an investigator from the state fire marshal's office to determine what caused the blaze.

County police initially said they did not suspect foul play but called the homicide unit as a precaution.
