Newburgh Attorney Pleads Guilty To Impersonating Public Servant

Last updated on Friday, May 22, 2015

(GIBSON CO.) - A plea deal is reached in the case of a Newburgh attorney accused of impersonating a public servant.

The Gibson County Prosecutor tells WFIE that 39-year old Brian Oberst pleaded guilty to a lesser, misdemeanor charge of impersonating a public servant.

Investigators say Oberst showed a Vanderburgh County Prosecutor's Office badge to a Gibson County deputy during a traffic stop in January.

He hasn't worked as a prosecutor since 2009.

As part of the plea deal, the case will be dismissed if Oberst completes his six months of probation.

Oberst faces a similar charge in Warrick County.
