Last updated on Thursday, May 28, 2015

(VANDERBURGH CO) - An Evansville McDonald’s employee is accused of threatening to shoot co-workers.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office says 20-year-old Michael Lee Hicks was arrested Tuesday on intimidation charges.

WFIE reports, Hicks had a disagreement on Memorial Day with another employee at the McDonald's on U.S. 41 at E. Mt. Pleasant Road.

We're told Hicks was upset with a co-worker for allegedly spreading false rumors about his brother's girlfriend.

The sheriff's office says Hicks threatened to bring a handgun to work and shoot the victim and several other people at the restaurant.

Investigators tell us Hicks admitted to making the threats when he was interviewed.

They say Hicks also explained that he would never have followed through with the threats and denied even owning a handgun.

Hicks was taken into custody and transported to the Vanderburgh County Jail.
