Man Suffers Serious Injuries After ATV Crash

(RIPLEY CO.) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an all terrain vehicle crash that injured one man.

At approximately 5:29 p.m. Tuesday, 31-year-old Justin E. McGuire was operating a Yamaha Kodiak 450 near the 9000 block of Old Michigan Road near Madison. The ATV then flipped and McGuire was thrown from the vehicle onto the roadway. McGuire was found approximately 24 feet from where the ATV came to a stop.

McGuire was not wearing a helmet or any other protective gear at the time of the crash. He was airlifted by Air Methods to the University of Louisville Hospital. He reported pain from his head, left wrist, and both legs. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.

Indiana Conservation Officers, Ripley County Deputies, New Marion Fire Department and Rescue 69 arrived shortly after the crash and are currently investigating.

Indiana Conservation Officers strongly encourage riders to wear a helmet and necessary safety equipment, as well as understand all laws while operating any Off-Road Vehicle on Indiana roadways.
