Greenwood Considers Adding E-Cigarettes To Smoking Ban

Last updated on Tuesday, May 26, 2015

(GREENWOOD) - Officials in an Indianapolis suburb are considering a proposal that would ban the use of electronic cigarettes in public places.

Some members of the Greenwood City Council say they support the move that would add add e-cigarettes and vaping to the city's current smoking ban.

Councilman Ron Bates tells the Daily Journal he believes e-cigarettes could be just as bad for public health as smoking cigarettes and should be included in the ban.

A vote on the proposal hasn't been set, but Councilman Ezra Hill says he wants to find out whether e-cigarette use has been a problem in the city.

State legislators last month approved regulations for the liquids used in electronic cigarettes, but didn't set any limits on where they could be used.
