First Suspect Accused Of Vincennes Murder Appears In Court

Last updated on Tuesday, May 12, 2015

(VINCENNES) - One of three men charged with three counts in connection to the shooting death of a Vincennes man appeared Monday morning in a Knox County Courtroom.

WTHI reports that 39-year-old Robert Malone of Vincennes, entered a not guilty plea to three counts including: murder, felony murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

The charges stem from an April 25 death investigation which the Knox County Coroner's office later ruled a homicide investigation. On the early morning hours of April 25, Vincennes police were called to a home on the 800 block of N. 6th., Street in reference to an unresponsive male. Authorities later identified the male as 55-year-old Christopher Melton of Vincennes.

An autopsy report ruled Melton died as a result from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Two other men are set for initial court appearances Tuesday. 36-year-old Robert Hutchinson of Lawrenceville and 55-year-old Jack Harris of Oblong are both charged with murder, felony murder, and conspiracy to commit murder.

Vincennes Investigators arrested Malone, Hutchinson, and Harris May 1 following a week long investigation that spanned two states.
