Evansville Man Facing Sex Abuse Charges In Incident With Owensboro Girl

Last updated on Saturday, May 9, 2015

(HENDERSON, KY) - An Evansville man is facing federal sex abuse charges, after allegedly taking a 12-year-old Western Kentucky girl across state lines for sexual activity.

According to authorities, on February 6 27-year-old Zachery Andrew Coleman used a teen social media networking site to contact the girl. He then drove to her home in Owensboro, KY, picked her up and drove her back to his house in Evansville and engaged in sexual activity.

Coleman was arrested at his residence on March 23 by the Evansville Police Department on an arrest warrant issued from Kentucky. The warrant was based on a felony charge for alleged transportation of a minor with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.

A federal official said it is illegal for someone to solicit identifying information, such as names, addresses and phone numbers, from minors in pursuit of engaging in sexual activity with that minor.

Authorities are asking anyone who has had contact with someone identifying themselves online as Swisher812 to call the Owensboro branch of the FBI.

Coleman is currently being held in the Daveiss County Detention Center. If convicted he faces a minimum of 10 years in prison.
