Driver Of Pontoon Boat In Critical Condition After Collision

(GEIST RESERVOIR) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a boating accident with serious bodily injury that occurred Sunday at Geist Reservoir.

At approximately 5:13 p.m. a 911 call was received in reference to a boat accident that had just taken place on the southern end of Geist Reservoir in Marion County.

Officers with Fishers Police Department and Indiana Conservation Officers responded.

According to police, a runabout boat and a pontoon boat collided.

The operator of the pontoon boat was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis in critical condition.The other occupant in the pontoon was thrown from the boat. He appears to be uninjured.

The operator and occupants of the runabout were not injured.

Indiana Conservation Officers have accident reconstructionists assisting with the investigation. Officers have not ruled out alcohol as playing a factor in the collision.

Indiana Conservation Officers were assisted at the scene by Fishers Police Department, Indianapolis Fire Department and Fishers EMS.
