Last updated on Tuesday, April 7, 2015

(HAMILTON CO.) - Hamilton County sheriff’s deputies arrested two women accused of stealing donation money from the Humane Society for Hamilton County.

28-year-old Heather Michelle Griffth of Noblesville and 23-year-old Amber Lynn Iliff of Noblesville were arrested and charged with one count of misdemeanor theft.

On April 1, staff members were in a meeting when they returned to find a donation box on the counter had been broken into. Video from inside the Humane Society building showed two women entering the business around 8 a.m. to surrender kittens. Police said the pair stole money from the donation box before leaving in a gray Chevy Impala. Employees estimated the women took more than $50.

Investigators received a number of tips about the suspects. On Thursday, April 2, deputies spotted the gray Impala leaving the Riverwood subdivision north of Noblesville around 9:30 p.m. Investigators identified the women as Griffith and Iliff, and took them into custody after a traffic stop.
