(SOUTH BEND) - A 19-year-old man charged in the death of a South Bend toddler is set to go on trial this week.
WNDU-TV reports Tarez Buchanon is charged with attempted murder and criminal gang enhancement in the April 2014 death of 2-year-old John Swoveland Jr. Authorities say the child died when he was struck by a stray bullet from a gunfight between two rival gangs several blocks away.
Buchanon is one of several people charged in connection with the crime. It wasn't immediately clear if he has an attorney.
