(HAMMOND) - A semi-trailer entering I-80 too fast rolled onto a pickup truck, pinning the occupants inside.

The accident happened around 10:33 a.m. on the ramp from northbound U.S. 41 to westbound I-80 at the Hammond Munster exit.

According to an Indiana State Police report, a 2007 Volvo owned by Legacy Express LLC out of Fond du Lac, WI and driven by 51-year-old Michael D. Grunski, of Fond du Lac, was pulling a 2015 Stoughton trailer with Pepsi products on board. As he was coming down the ramp a black 2001 Chevrolet S-10 pickup driven by 61-year-old Anageli G. Campos, of East Chicago, was traveling westbound on I-80 exiting onto US 41 southbound.

Campos saw the semi coming at a very fast rate, slowed to let the semi go by when it rolled on top of the pickup pinning both Campos and her husband and 54-year-old Christopher Campos inside the truck.

The trailer landed on the pickup luckily where the load was not in the trailer.

Both Anageli and Christopher were freed from the pickup by firefighters with the Hammond Fire Department.

Both suffered minor injuries and were taken to Munster Community Hospital for treatment.

Grunski was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

The ramp was closed for about three and a half hours for cleanup, investigation of the crash and providing aid to the injured.

Assisting at the scene were Troopers from the Lowell Post, Hammond Police Department, Bert's Towing out of Hammond and the ISP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division.
