Purdue Awarded $465,000 Grant To Improve Food Quality

(WEST LAFAYETTE) - The U.S. Department of Agriculture is awarding Purdue University a $465,000 grant to improve food quality.

The USDA's National Institute of Food and Agriculture announced the Purdue grant among nearly $19 million in funding to 36 grantees in various research areas to ensure a safe and nutritious food supply. The institute made the awards through the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative authorized by the 2014 Farm Bill.

Grants to improve food quality went to 11 universities and ranged in size from nearly $862,000 to $46,000.

The National Institute of Food and Agriculture supports research, education, and extension work by awarding grants that address key problems in sustaining all components of food and agriculture.
