Muncie Man Facing Cruelty Charges For Abandoning Two Dogs

Last updated on Tuesday, April 7, 2015

(MUNCIE) - A Muncie man faces animal cruelty charges for allegedly abandoned his two dogs, one of which died of starvation and hypothermia after being left chained outside.

34-year-old Rodrico C. White was charged Wednesday. Delaware County Deputy Prosecutor Zach Craig says White remains at large and is wanted by federal marshals on cocaine-related warrants in Tennessee.

The Muncie Star Press reports that one of White's dogs was found dead March 5 outside a Muncie home. That dog was frozen so solidly it took more than three days to thaw before a veterinarian could examine it to determine how the animal died.

Another dog found chained outside the house was emaciated but survived.

Muncie Animal Shelter Superintendent Phil Peckinpaugh says that dog is doing "very well," and is available for adoption.
