Last updated on Tuesday, April 7, 2015

(MUNCIE) - A 33-year-old felon accused of killing a Muncie woman more than five years ago is seeking a speedy trial.

Danny Lee Saintignon Jr. of Muncie is charged with murder, robbery resulting in serious bodily injury and conspiracy to commit burglary resulting in serious bodily injury.

Saintignon is accused of fatally stabbing 35-year-old Monica Brown on Dec. 24, 2009, after entering her home to rob her of prescription medications.

The (Muncie) Star Press reports Saintignon currently is serving a 23-year sentence for his role in a 2013 armed home invasion.

He filed a motion requesting a speedy trial Thursday after being transferred from the Miami Correctional Facility to the Delaware County jail for an initial hearing on the charges in Brown's death.

Saintignon is scheduled to appear in court Monday. It wasn't immediately known if he has an attorney.
