Holiday World and Prairie Farms Team Up For Thunderbird Ice Cream

Last updated on Wednesday, April 15, 2015

(UNDATED) - With only two weeks remaining until the new Thunderbird roller coaster opens at Holiday World, an edible version is rolling into grocery stores in 27 states.

"Thunderbird Ice Cream is a fun collaboration between Holiday World and Prairie Farms," says Holiday World Vice President Eric Snow. "We sampled a lot of creative flavor combinations and ultimately decided Thunderbird Ice Cream should be a delicious combination of vanilla ice cream with loops of caramel and spicy 'scorched' pecans."

Thunderbird Ice Cream will be available at Holiday World this season, plus in half-gallon cartons at grocery stores that carry Prairie Farms Ice Cream in the Midwest, East Coast, and South.

Thunderbird, America's first launched wing coaster, features a zero-to-60 miles-per-hour launch in 3.5 seconds, followed by multiple inversions including a 14-story launch, loops, rolls and overbanked turns.

Farmer-owned Prairie Farms Dairy is headquartered in Carlinville, Illinois. Prairie Farms will distribute Thunderbird Ice Cream as part of its "Critics' Choice" series of specialty ice cream.

Holiday World opens for the season on April 25; Splashin' Safari opens May 13. For more information about the parks, visit HolidayWorld.com or call 1-877-463-2645.
