Bedbug Infestation Tremporarily Closes Indianapolis Movie Theater

Last updated on Friday, April 10, 2015

(INDIANAPOLIS ) - An Indianapolis movie theater where patrons were bitten by bedbugs has been closed so that exterminators can kill the small, blood-sucking insects.

AMC Entertainment Inc. says in a statement that an exterminator has treated the Indianapolis theater auditorium where the tiny parasites were found, but the theater will remain closed until it can be treated again and inspected. The company did not identify which theater had the infestation.

But 23-year-old Brisa Acuna tells The Indianapolis Star that she, her brother and sister-in-law were left with small spots on their arms and backs after they were bitten by the insects Sunday while watching a movie at an AMC theater on Indianapolis' far northwest side.

Bedbugs are wingless, reddish-brown insects that bite people and animals to draw blood for their meals.
