Toddler's Family Want Justice In His Death

Last updated on Monday, March 30, 2015

(NEW PARIS) - The family of a 19-month-old boy who died in October, allegedly at the hands of his babysitter, say they want justice for the toddler.

An autopsy found that Kirk Coleman died of a brain injury caused by blunt-force trauma. Fifty-eight-year-old Jackie L. Rolston of New Paris was charged last week with battery on a child resulting in death. She was released on bond pending an April 2 initial hearing.

The Elkhart Truth reports Kirk's mother, Angie Garza, says the family is focused on getting justice for her son.

They're also calling for a national registry of people convicted of child abuse and neglect after learning that Rolston had been convicted of neglect after a 2-year-old boy came home bruised.
