Northern Indiana Man Dies In Conveyor Belt Accident

Last updated on Monday, March 9, 2015

(KINGSBURY) - Northern Indiana authorities say an industrial accident killed a man when his clothing became entangled in a conveyor belt at a landscaping materials business.

LaPorte County officials say 41-year-old Alejandro Anguiano died Friday morning at a hospital after being injured at the Markman Peat Corp. in Kingsbury.

Anguiano was strangled when some of his clothing became entangled in a peat-loading conveyor belt at the plant about 40 miles east of Gary where he worked.

LaPorte County Coroner John Sullivan tells WNDU-TV the LaPorte man died from multiple blunt force trauma and asphyxiation.

Police say Anguiano was found by a co-worker and his death is believed to have been an accident.
