Indianapolis Police Officer Sentenced To 60 Days For Drunk Driving

Last updated on Wednesday, March 11, 2015

(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indianapolis police officer has pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle while intoxicated after he showed up to work drunk.

Officer Bryan Neal was sentenced Monday to 60 days in jail and 180 days of probation. He was charged with operating while intoxicated and operating while intoxicated with a blood alcohol level over .15 last June.

Court documents state Neal drove his patrol car from his Martinsville home to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department station in Fountain Square.

The documents say his supervisors suspected he was drunk, and a nearly empty bottle of rum was found in the trunk of Neal's vehicle. His blood alcohol content was .21, about three times the legal limit to drive.

Neal remains suspended pending termination until a Merit Board meeting is held.
