Foul Play Not Suspected In 2-Year-Olds Death

Last updated on Wednesday, March 11, 2015

(GREENWOOD) - A 2-year-old child was found dead inside a home in Greenwood Monday morning.

Deputy John Love with the Johnson County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to 3700 block of Oak Forge Way in White River Township to assist Bargersville Fire Department with an unresponsive child.

When Love arrived at the address, he found a young girl lying face-up on a bed in the home's master bedroom. The child was dressed in a sleeper with the front unzipped, according to a police report.

The father of the child told responding crews that he believed the 2-year-old was already dead, but Love stated in the police report that CPR had been started.

"Medics on the scene checked the young girl and turned to me, shaking their heads in a no manner, quietly informing me that the young girl had passed away," Love wrote in the report.

Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox said his office is investigating the death and that an autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.

No foul play is suspected at this time, Cox said.
