Last updated on Tuesday, March 31, 2015

(MUNCIE) - Saturday, around 11 p.m., Indiana State troopers responded to the 100 block of E. 9th St. in Muncie for the report of a domestic dispute in a vehicle.

Troopers arrived to find a female driver and three teenage passengers exiting a white SUV in front of 121 E. 9th.

Preliminary investigation revealed to officers the SUV driver, 36-year-old Andrea Hughes of Muncie, had indeed been arguing just minutes before with her boyfriend, who was no longer in the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that Hughes was operating her vehicle while intoxicated with her two teen daughters and their friend in the vehicle.

After being checked at IU Health's Ball Memorial Hospital, Hughes was lodged in the Delaware County Jail on three counts of Operating While Intoxicated with Passengers Less Than 18 Years of Age, Level 6 Felony, and one count of Operating While Intoxicated, "C" Misdemeanor.

Hughes blood alcohol level was more than one and a half times the legal limit. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Muncie Police Department and Delaware County EMS.

The Indiana State Police remains committed to reducing the number of impaired driving crashes by taking impaired drivers off our roadways. Motorists are encouraged to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911. Give a vehicle description, location, and direction of travel. Never follow an impaired driver.
