Couple Accused Of Holding Woman Captive Will Stand Trial This Summer

Last updated on Thursday, March 5, 2015

(POSEY CO.) - Posey County Circuit Court Judge James Redwine will attempt to seat juries for a couple charged with holding a woman captive for two months before deciding their separate requests for changes of venue.

Judge Redwine says he'll look deeper at the content of local news reports to determine whether finding an impartial jury is possible.

37-year-old Ricky House Jr. and 44-year-old Kendra Tooley both face charges of rape, criminal confinement and kidnapping amoung other charges.

They're accused of holding a 30-year-old Evansville woman in a small wooden cage inside their rural mobile home until she was freed in September by Tooley's ex-husband.

The Evansville Courier & Press reports defense attorneys William Gooden and Glenn Grampp told the judge they would likely seek to have the trials moved because of the case's extensive news coverage.

House is scheduled to stand trial in May.

Tooley's trial is scheduled for June.
