Playwrights Wanted For Indiana's 2016 Bicentennial

(UNDATED) - The Corydon Bicentennial Committee is seeking proposals for a commissioned theatre work depicting historical and cultural highlights of Indiana’s history for the upcoming Bicentennial Celebration in 2016.

Proposals should include:

A scenario of no more than 1,000 words offering the writer's vision of the play or theatre piece; a script sample of the proposed work of no more than ten pages; the writer's resume, including contact information and indications of previous writing or training.

The Proposed Work:

Proposals must be submitted as email attachments in the form of MS Word documents or PDFs and include the following:

Commission:

The production, if selected, will be directed and produced by The Hayswood Theatre Group, Inc., and owned by the Bicentennial Committee. It will be produced anytime during 2016 at no cost to the Committee and shall be royalty free.

The Playwright will, in conjunction with the director and production team, make reasonable edits as necessary to the script to allow for the presentation.

The script will be deemed a "work for hire", though the playwright will receive full credits for writing and shall be awarded the amount of $1,800 ($500 upon selection and $1,300 upon delivery of the final script by the due date).

The playwright will also receive a $500 stipend (for travel, food and any other expenses/arrangements) to attend the opening production of the show.

A final contract, including the foregoing, will be executed by the selected playwright upon selection.

No compensation or other obligations shall run to any play or playwright not selected.

Proposals must be received by midnight, April 10, 2015. Panel review will be completed by April 30, 2015, and the selected playwright will be notified by May 1, 2015.

The final script for the selected play is due no later than August 31, 2015.
