Jury Finds Sallee Guilty Of Murders

Last updated on Thursday, February 26, 2015

(BARTHOLOMEW CO.) - A man has been found guilty in the Waynesville slayings of four people in May 2013.

57-year-old Samuel Sallee faces life in prison without parole for the killings of three men and a woman on Mother's Day weekend two years ago.

Sallee has denied his role in the killings and insisted he was friends with the victims: 53-year-old Katheryn Burton, her 39-year-old boyfriend, Thomas Smith, and two friends, Aaron Cross and Shawn Burton, both 41-year-old Columbus residents.

Bartholomew County Prosecutor Bill Nash decided not to seek the death penalty against Sallee after meeting with about 20 family members of the victims.
