Woman Arrested After Courthouse Security Find Drugs

(MADISON) - A Madison woman was arrested after Jefferson County Courthouse Security found drugs and drug paraphernalia in her purse.

46-year-old Tonya L. McAtee is facing charges of possession of a narcotic drug, possession of a controlled substance, and two counts of possession of paraphernalia.

Courthouse security officer found the illegal substances in her purse during a search.

Officers found a pill bottle and a bag of green-leafy material inside the purse.

McAtee told police that she was at the courthouse for her daughter's hearing and didn't know the items were in her purse. She claims the items belonged to the daughter.

McAtee told police there was also a glass pipe in the purse, but it had not been used. Police found the pipe, along with residue in the bowl.

McAtee was arrested and taken to the Jefferson County Jail where she posted bond and was released.
