Winter Storm Warning In Effect For Northern Indiana

Last updated on Monday, January 5, 2015

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A winter storm warning is in effect for the following counties tonight from 7 pm Monday to 10 am Tuesday:

Carrol, Warren, Tippecanoe, Clinton, Howard, Fountain, Montgomery, Boone, Tipton, Hamilton, Madison, Delaware, Randolph, Hendriks, Marion, Hancok and Henry counties.

Single digit temps and below zero wind chills are with us this morning. Our high today will only be 18.

Snow should begin after 8 pm and stay with us all night. The timing, cold temperatures, moderate to heavy snowfall rates and amounts of 3-6 inches mean a slow, slick morning rush hour Tuesday.

Look for the heaviest snow to be in northern counties. Blowing and drifting is a possibility, especially in rural areas. The Tuesday morning rush hour could be difficult.

The snow is followed by bitter cold air with sub-zero lows Wednesday/Thursday and wind chills of -20 to -30. Expect Wind Chill Warnings by mid-week. The high on Wednesday will only be 5 degrees with a low of -7 degrees.
