Last updated on Wednesday, January 14, 2015

(INDIANAPOLIS) - A store clerk shot an armed robbery suspect on the near north side of Indianapolis Monday night. The suspect later died from his injuries.

WTHR reports that a man robbed the "Hang Time" clothing store near 38th and Meridian streets around 8:45 p.m., wearing a mask and carrying a gun. After he robbed the store, the suspect saw a clerk was trying to call 911.

The suspect re-engaged the clerk, trying to stop the phone call. While that happened, a second clerk approached the man from behind and shot him.

The suspect was taken to Eskenazi Health in critical condition, where he later died. No customers were in the store at the time of the robbery and shooting.

If you have information about the shooting, call Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.
