Colts Make Roster Moves After McNary Arrest

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indianapolis Colts have signed wide receiver Griff Whalen from the practice squad to the active roster, signed defensive end Gannon Conway to the practice squad and placed inside linebacker Josh McNary on the Exempt/Commissioner Permission list.

WTHR reports that the move comes after McNary was arrested Wednesday night on rape and other charges. Read more here.

Whalen, 5-11, 190 pounds, has played in 19 career regular season games (three starts) with the Colts and has caught 26 passes for 282 yards and two touchdowns. He has returned 34 punts for 291 yards (8.6 avg.) and 16 kickoffs for 401 yards (25.1 avg.). Whalen has played in two postseason contests (one start) and recorded seven receptions for 93 yards, while returning two punts for six yards and one kickoff for 16 yards. He was originally signed by the team as an undrafted free agent on April 30, 2012.

Conway, 6-4, 280 pounds, re-joins the Colts after he was waived following the preseason on August 30, 2014. He was originally signed by the Miami Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Arizona State on May 13, 2014 and was signed by the Colts as a free agent on June 11. In 30 career games (14 starts) at Arizona State, Conway recorded 51 tackles (33 solo), nine tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks and two passes defensed. As a senior in 2013, he earned Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 recognition after starting all 14 games and posting 38 tackles (24 solo), seven tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and two passes defensed.

McNary has played in 20 career regular season games (four starts) and has totaled 54 tackles (33 solo) and half of a sack. He has also recorded six tackles (three solo) in four postseason contests. McNary was originally signed by the Colts as a free agent on April 11, 2013.
