(TERRE HAUTE) - A California prison inmate has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the shooting deaths of two Indiana women more than 34 years ago.
Harry Rowley was sentenced Monday in Vigo County court. The 61-year-old pleaded guilty last month in the July 1980 slayings of 29-year-old Lucinda Farmer and 28-year-old Mary Quillen. Authorities say the roommates were found dead in an alley behind an apartment complex in Terre Haute where Rowley also lived. Court documents say Rowley shot the women.
Rowley already is serving a life sentence in California for a separate killing. The Terre Haute Tribune Star reports that under a plea agreement Rowley will receive 30-year prison sentences for each of the Indiana murder charges. He will serve them concurrently along with his life term in California.
