Last updated on Tuesday, December 16, 2014

(NORTH VERNON) - A 87-year-old woman struck by a vehicle in North Vernon earlier in the week died Saturday at a Louisville hospital.

Hulda Mae Reichenbach, of North Vernon, passed away at 6:50 p.m. Saturday at the University of Louisville trauma center.

Reichenbach was hit Wednesday night by a Chevrolet Malibu driven by Sheri L. Schroeder of North Vernon as she tried to cross State Street at O&M Avenue. Schroeder was traveling south on State Street and did not see Reichenbach, who was wearing dark clothing, until it was too late to stop.

North Vernon Police say, Schroeder was not impaired or speeding at the time of the accident.

Reichenbach was taken to St. Vincent Jennings Hospital then flown to University of Louisville hospital.

Reichenbach and her husband, William, led a $1.3 million renovation of North Vernon's Park Theatre Civic Center that was completed in 2003.
