(MUNCIE) - A Fort Wayne sex offender is in jail for allegedly assaulting a Muncie woman at her northeastside home on Tuesday.
40-year-old Billy Stacy Jr was arrested Wednesday, preliminarily charged with strangulation, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, criminal confinement and theft.
Prior to the attack, Stacy had left strange letters revealing his plans to the victim. She awoke early Tuesday morning to find Stacy on top of her, and choking her before she lost consciousness.
She was taken to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, where officers noted visible marks on her neck, and swollen eyes that looked like they had been filled with blood.
Stacy is being held in the Delaware County jail on Thursday under a $35,000 bond.
