15-Year-Old Boy Hits, Injures Police Chief

Last updated on Tuesday, December 30, 2014

(MARKLEVILLE) - A central Indiana town’s police chief was treated at a hospital after being knocked to the ground and hit by a 15-year-old boy.

Markleville police chief Sam Weist says he stopped Sunday afternoon to question three teenage boys about reports of rocks being thrown through the windows of an abandoned building in the Madison County town. The Herald Bulletin reports that Weist was attacked after he got out of his car to question the boys.

Weist says he expected to be off work for at least a few days with back pain, along with a scraped nose and hand injuries.

The boys were later found, with one facing preliminary juvenile charges that include battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.
