Man Arrested For Theft Of Tree Stand And Multiple Hunting Violations

(DEARBORN CO.) - Indiana Conservation Officers arrested one suspect Monday morning for the theft of a tree stand and several hunting violations and probation violations.

44-year-old Edward B. Jones of West Harrison was arrested and incarcerated at the Dearborn County Jail on the following charges: Theft, A Misdemeanor, Failure to Procure a Hunting License, C Misdemeanor, Hunting with an Illegal Device, C Misdemeanor and Hunting Without Consent of the landowner, C Misdemeanor.

At approximately 9 a.m. on December 8th, Indiana Conservation Officers in District 9 obtained a search warrant for Jones' Residence, in which thirteen ladder, lock on and climbing tree stands and one ground blind were recovered.

Also recovered were two Remington .308 caliber rifles that were in violation of Jones' probation.

District 9 Officers encourage you to contact Officer Andrew Cline at acline@dnr.in.gov if you have had a tree stand stolen in the area of Davison or State Line Road.

Indiana Conservation Officers highly encourage you to document all tree stands and any other gear of value in the following ways: Create a unique number and stamp it somewhere on a permanent part of the item along with your name, address and a phone number; Photograph the item and place it in a safe location; Document the brand name and the price paid for the item.

Citizens are also encouraged to contact 1-800-TIPIDNR or ICO Central Dispatch at 812-873-9536 to report any violations or suspicious activity.
