Last updated on Tuesday, December 23, 2014

(MICHIGAN CITY) - A judge has dismissed one of two criminal charges filed against the 44-year-old owner of a Michigan City day care facility where a 5-year-old boy was strangled by a jump rope.

Patricia Calvin argued in LaPorte County court that she should not be held legally responsible for the boy's death. Calvin said the mother dropped off the boy without scheduling an appointment, as previously requested.

Amareon Williams died June 9th at Tricia's Playhouse day care.
