(KOKOMO) - Chrysler Group says it’ll invest $266 million in new manufacturing equipment at two of its facilities in Kokomo.
The move will enable the company to expand production of 8-speed transmission vehicles. Chrysler has sold more than one million vehicles made with the Kokomo-built transmission.
Kokomo Common Council also approved a ten-year tax abatement Monday night on personal property taxes for the project. Since 2009, Chrysler has invested more than $1.5 billion at its Kokomo transmission facilities.
