WGU Indiana Offers Military Appreciation Scholarships

Last updated on Tuesday, November 11, 2014

(INDIANAPOLIS) - WGU Indiana has partnered with the National Military Family Association to announce it will award a minimum of five new Military Appreciation Scholarships.

The competitive scholarships are valued at $2,000 each and are available to active duty, veteran military personnel and their spouses enrolling in one of WGU Indiana's business, healthcare, education or information technology degree programs.

The Military Appreciation Scholarship comes after WGU was recognized in September 2014 as a Military Friendly School for the fifth consecutive year. The online university continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to helping service men and women apply their knowledge and life experiences toward a high-quality degree that will open career opportunities. Currently, approximately 200 military members - including veterans and active duty members - are enrolled in WGU Indiana.

"Partnering with National Military Family Association is an honor. I had the chance to work with this group when I served in the Pentagon, so I know, first hand, of the association's expertise in the area of caring for military members and their families," said Allison Barber, military wife and chancellor of WGU Indiana. "WGU Indiana is a perfect option for the military because of our competency-based, online model. This partnership will give us the opportunity to help even more people who serve our country."

The deadline to apply for the WGU Military Appreciation Scholarship is February 28, 2015. Recipients must be newly admitted WGU students and demonstrate evidence of active duty or veteran status, or evidence of spouse's status.
