Vigo Co. Park Employee Accused Of Rape

Last updated on Monday, November 10, 2014

(TERRE HAUTE) - A Vigo County Parks employee is suspended without pay pending an investigation into an allegation he raped a woman in a park restroom.

That allegation comes from a woman who was completing her community service hours at Prairie Creek Park.

David Gray faces charges of rape, criminal confinement and official misconduct.

The woman said she heard that Gray accepts money in exchange for writing off community service hours not served. Instead, Gray sent the woman to buy alcohol. When she returned, he had a bed in a restroom that she thought they were going to clean.

That's where she says he attacked her.

The Parks Department says Gray is a maintenance specialist who has been with the county since 2001.

Here's an official statement from Vigo County Parks Superintendent Kara Kish:

The Vigo County Parks and Recreation Department was made aware that Mr. David Gray, Maintenance Specialist, was arrested and charged with rape, criminal confinement, and official misconduct on the evening of November 6, 2014. Effective November 7, 2014, Mr. Gray has been suspended without pay effective immediately pending further investigation. Mr. Gray has been an employee with the Vigo County Parks and Recreation Department since June 1, 2001.
