Last updated on Thursday, November 20, 2014

(PLAINFIELD) - 200 South was closed Wednesday morning from Smith Road to the entrance of the Westmere neighborhood as crews cleaned up from a Tuesday night, single-vehicle crash that killed one person and injured another in Plainfield.

The crash happened a little after 10:30 p.m. in the 9200 block of Princeton Court in the northeast part of the city. It was just north entrance of the Westmere subdivision, County Road 200 South and Westmere Dr. in Plainfield.

Upon the officers' arrival, they located a black 2005 Nissan Altima at the entrance. The Nissan Altima was westbound on County Road 200 South, west of Allpoints Parkway, when it lost control. The vehicle then struck several trees, a stop sign and came to rest after striking the concrete Westmere sign at the entrance to the subdivision on the south side of County Road 200 South.

The driver, 25-year-old Francisco Farfan, was transported by helicopter to St. Vincent Hospital. The passenger, identified as 25-year-old Kevin Borrayo, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are still investigating the crash.
