Shooting At Florida State University - Two Shot, Gunman Killed

Last updated on Thursday, November 20, 2014

(TALLAHASSEE, Fla.) - Three people, officers believed to be students, have been shot at Florida State University library by a gunman who was reportedly killed by campus police.

Florida State University warned of a "dangerous situation on campus" early Thursday morning and asked students to stay away from windows as tweets from campus reported that a gunman had opened fire inside a library.

Three people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds, the nursing supervisor at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare told the campus newspaper. But she would not elaborate on their condition.

Mary Coburn, the vice president of student affairs, told the paper the gunman was later shot and killed by campus police.

Campus police would not comment on the incident to CNN, and the school's public relations department said it would release a statement shortly.

According to multiple tweets, the shooting took place inside Strozier library at the school in Tallahassee, Florida.

"FSU Alert Dangerous situation main campus-Tallahassee," a text sent to students read. "Seek shelter immediately, away from doors and windows."

Perry Kostidakis, a sports editor for the campus newspaper, told CNN the library was surrounded.

"The entire campus is empty; I've seen one or two people come up and look at the scene. Everyone who is in a campus building is under lockdown right now. Policemen are still surrounding the library."

Several FSU students have been live tweeting the incident.
