Police Arrest Five Accused Of Doing Drugs In Front Of Kids

(LAFAYETTE) - Lafayette police arrested five people accused of doing drugs in front of children over the weekend.

Officers arrived at the Knights Inn, 4110 South St., around 7:20 p.m. Saturday in response to an anonymous tip. They found five adults and four children, including a 7-year-old, a 4-year-old and two 3-year-olds.

Officers saw drug paraphernalia around the motel room, with some of it within reach of the children. They also found heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, synthetic marijuana and syringes. In addition, they discovered an inactive methamphetamine lab with precursors.

Officers arrested the five adults and the Department of Child Services was called to provide alternate care for the children.

Arrested were:
Erica Shires: Maintaining a common nuisance, neglect of dependent, possession of syringe, possession of marijuana, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of synthetic drug look-a-like substance

Brandon Silva: Possession of meth lab/ precursors, possession of methamphetamine, possession of syringe, visiting a common nuisance

Mitchell Decker: Possession of marijuana, possession of syringe, visiting a common nuisance

Jacob Shires: Visiting a common nuisance

Monica Ybarra: Visiting a common nuisance
