Last updated on Monday, November 10, 2014

(NORTH VERNON) - Officers of the North Vernon Police Department were dispatched to an unconscious person in the 100 block of West O&M Avenue.

When they arrived on the scene, they, along with medical first responders, soon discovered that the situation was a drug overdose.

Officers report that when they entered the residence, they smelled a strong odor of burnt marijuana. They also reportedly saw several items of paraphernalia in plain sight. After officers and medical personnel had taken care of the medical call, officers requested a search warrant. It was granted shortly thereafter for the residence, outbuildings, and a vehicle.

After the search, investigators report that several items of paraphernalia, a white powder and four grams of dried marijuana were removed from the residence. Police add that an indoor marijuana grow operation was located in the outbuilding. They say that three marijuana plants were removed. Police allege that notes on how to care for the marijuana plants were also located.

They arrested 24-year-old Luke A. Boswell of North Vernon for felony Possession of Controlled Substance, along with misdemeanor charges of Dealing in Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana and maintaining a common nuisance. Police say that additional arrests are expected.
