(INDIANAPOLIS) - Metro Police are investigating an apparent home invasion and shooting on West 34th Street near Crown Hill Cemetery.

Police said a man tried to break into the home just west of MLK around 2:45 a.m. Thursday. He and the homeowner got into a scuffle, and the intruder was shot in the foot and the leg.

He ran off, and police found him nearby. The man was taken to the hospital.

Police say the homeowner was not hurt.

The homeowner told police he thought his home had been broken into prior to Thursday morning.

Police are investigating whether that may be the case.
