Firefighters Clean Up Concrete Spill

Last updated on Monday, November 3, 2014

(GERMAN TOWNSHIP) - German Township firefighters worked to clean up a concrete spill Thursday morning on U.S. 31.

Deputy Chief Matt Lynch says that an off-duty firefighter was driving on U.S. 31 at County Road 650N at about 10:25 a.m. Thursday when they saw a concrete mixer slam on its brakes at the stoplight. The load of concrete shifted and spilled from the front of the truck into the middle of the intersection.

Firefighters sprayed about 2,000 gallons of water to keep the concrete from hardening as they cleared the roadway. The cleanup took about an hour, Lynch said.
