Christmas Trees Being Sent To Troops Overseas

Last updated on Thursday, November 20, 2014

(UNDATED) - About 1,000 Christmas trees will be sent to troops serving overseas as part of the Trees for Troops program, more than 200 of those trees will come from Indiana.

Members of the Indiana Army National Guard help pack up trees to be sent to their comrades serving overseas.

Farms throughout the state bring trees to Dull's Tree Farm in Thorntown, where volunteers put them in boxes and load them into FedEx trucks. Dull's has participated in the Trees for Troops program for nine years.

Farms donate the trees, volunteers donate their time and FedEx ships the trees for free.

The trees will be delivered to troops serving in Afghanistan and other areas in the coming weeks.
