(INDIANAPOLIS) - A six-year-old has died after he was accidentally shot by another child in a north side apartment.
Police say a grandmother was home with three children, all under the age of ten. Detectives believe one of the children found a gun and accidentally shot the six-year-old in the head. The child was rushed to Riley Hospital where he died.
The incident happened in the 1700 block of Century Circle South in the Oakbrook Park Apartment complex.
Police were called to the scene just after midnight on Sunday.
Indianapolis Metro Police stress that this incident and others like it could be prevented by properly securing guns and keeping them out of children's reach.
