Last updated on Friday, October 3, 2014

(FORT WAYNE) - WFWA PBS Channel 39 has released a statement after a former employee was arrested for allegedly defrauding the station.

Gail Waymire worked as PBS39's finance manager from October 2009 until she left the station in 2013. A federal grand jury handed down a 20-count indictment, accusing her of defrauding the station for more than $130,000. Waymire was arrested in La Porte, Indiana on September 24 and arraigned in a federal court in South Bend a day later.

PBS39 released the following statement on Wednesday about the case:

On September 10, 2014, a Federal Grand Jury indicted Mrs. Gail R. Waymire, a former employee of WFWA PBS39 Fort Wayne ("PBS39"). Mrs. Waymire was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on September 24, 2014.

Law Enforcement Officials have asked PBS39 not to comment on this matter while Mrs. Waymire's case is pending in court. PBS39 has been, and continues to be, committed to cooperating with law enforcement in this matter and, therefore, has no comment regarding Mrs. Waymire's case at this time.

PBS39 continues to thrive as a fully invested member of the community it serves and appreciates the community's support for its ongoing mission. Our mission to educate, engage, inform and entertain will continue as normal. All avenues of restitution will be sought, and PBS39 remains financially stable.
Thank you.
