Last updated on Friday, October 10, 2014

(HAMILTON CO.) - A State Excise Police officer was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated (OWI) in Hamilton County.

According to a Sheriff's Office report, Brett J. Brandenburg was driving his state issued vehicle in the area of State Road 37 and 141st Street around 2 a.m. Oct. 4 when he failed to signal his turn as required by state law.

A deputy then observed Brandenburg's vehicle weaving as it traveled down the roadway. The deputy stopped the vehicle and, after a roadside investigation, detained Brandenburg for a breathalizer test.

He tested more than .15.

Brandenburg was arrested and charged with OWI.

He was not on-duty at the time of his arrest.

He was released from the Hamilton County Jail after posting a $2,500 bond and scheduling a court date for later in October
