Last updated on Monday, October 27, 2014

(WARRICK CO.) - Indiana State Police says a Newburgh man is arrested after he tried to get away from a trooper.

ISP says early Saturday morning, around 12:30, the trooper was patrolling SR 66 west of Epworth Road when he saw car heading east at 102 mph in a 50 mph zone.

ISP says the trooper tried to stop the car, but the driver kept going at a high rate of speed before turning onto Grimm Road and slowing down.

Troopers say the driver, identified as 19-year-old Derrick Lee Mays, then pulled into a parking lot and surrendered without further incident.

Mays was arrested and taken to the Warrick County Jail where he later posted bond and was released.

He is charged with Resisting Law Enforcement and Reckless Driving.
