Police Have Suspect In Death Of Four Women

Last updated on Monday, October 20, 2014

(HAMMOND) - Hammond police say they have a person of interest in custody in the deaths of one woman there and three more women in Gary.

Hammond police Lt. Rich Hoyda says police discovered the body of a woman about 9:30 p.m. Friday at a Motel 6. He says evidence there led to police to a 43-year-old Gary man, who was taken in for questioning.

Hoyda says the man confessed to that killing and also told them where several more victims were located. That led police in Gary to find the bodies of three more women late Saturday and early Sunday. None of the women have been identified and the coroner has not determined how they died.

Hoyda said the man's name is not being released because he has not been charged.
