Man Arrested After Police Find 5.4 Pounds Heroin In Spare Tire

(PUTNAM CO.) - Putnam County police pulled over a man for texting and driving on Saturday and ended up arresting him for possession of heroin.

Around 8:30 a.m. on I-70 in Putnam County, police saw a man in a Mitsubishi texting while driving, so they pulled him over.

The suspect, Gregorio Panaigna-Garcia, 43, consented to a search and a K-9 officer immediately alerted officers of a presence of drugs in the trunk.

The search revealed 5.4 pounds of heroin stuffed in the man's spare tire.

The driver was arrested and taken to the Putnam County Jail. He was then released to the feds.
